Before you start
Open your cash register for the day if your business uses registers — SellarPro will prompt you for the opening cash amount the first time you reach the POS screen.
Steps to make a sale
- Open POS from the left menu, or click the POS button in the top bar.
- Add the items. Scan the barcode, or start typing the product name in the search box and press Enter on the one you want.
- Change a quantity by clicking the quantity box on that line and typing the new number.
- Apply a discount if you are giving one — either on a single line, or on the whole sale using the Discount button.
- Choose the Customer. Leave it as Walk-In Customer for a cash sale, or search for the customer if this is going on their account.
- Press Finalize, choose the payment method — cash, mobile money, card or bank transfer — and enter the amount received.
- Give the change shown on screen, and hand over the receipt.
What happens next
The sale is saved, the stock for every item drops by the quantity sold, the payment is recorded against the cash register, and the receipt prints to your configured printer.
The sale appears immediately in Reports → Sales and in the register summary your cashier will close the shift with.
Tips
Hold a sale. If a customer goes back for one more item, press Suspend to park the sale and serve the next person. The parked sale is waiting under Suspended sales.
Part payment goes on the customer's account. If the customer pays less than the total, the balance becomes a due on their record — so select the real customer rather than Walk-In, or you will not know who owes it.
Common problems
Nothing happens when I scan
Click into the POS search box first so the scanner has somewhere to type. If it still does nothing, the barcode is probably not saved against the product — see how to add a product.
The receipt did not print
Check that the correct printer is selected in your POS settings and that the browser was allowed to print without asking. The receipt printer article covers the full setup.
