How to Connect a Receipt Printer to SellarPro
To connect a receipt printer to SellarPro, install the printer on the computer first, then open Settings → Invoice Settings, choose the 80mm or 58mm receipt layout, and set it as the default for your POS screen.
Before you start
Install the printer in Windows (or on your Android device) and print its own test page first. If the printer cannot print a test page from the operating system, no setting inside SellarPro will make it work.
Check which width your printer takes — 80mm is the common counter size, 58mm is the small mobile size. The roll will tell you.
Steps to set up the printer
- Connect the printer by USB or to your network, and install the driver that came with it.
- Print a Windows test page to confirm the printer works on its own.
- In SellarPro, open Settings and choose Invoice Settings.
- Add or edit an invoice layout and set the Design to the slim receipt layout that matches your paper — 80mm or 58mm.
- Save, then open Settings → Business Locations, edit your shop and set this layout as the POS invoice layout.
- Open the POS screen and make a test sale of one cheap item, then void it.
- In the browser's print dialog, set margins to None and turn headers and footers off, then tick "remember this" if your browser offers it.
What happens next
Every finalised sale now prints to that printer on the width you chose, with your business name and any footer text from the invoice layout.
Tips
Stop the print dialog appearing on every sale. In Chrome, set the receipt printer as the system default and enable kiosk printing for your SellarPro address. Receipts then print the moment you finalise.
Common problems
The receipt prints on a full A4 page
The invoice layout is still the A4 design. Go back to Invoice Settings and pick the 80mm or 58mm receipt design, then re-check the POS layout on your business location.
The receipt is cut off on the right
The paper width and the layout width do not match. An 80mm layout on 58mm paper will always lose the right-hand column.
The cash drawer does not open
The drawer opens from the printer, not from SellarPro. It must be plugged into the printer's RJ11 port, and the printer driver must be set to send the drawer kick code when it prints.
