How to Keep PAYE on the Current GRA Bands

Short answer

SellarPro charges PAYE on the GRA bands in force at the end of each pay period, from 1 September 2026 the GRA 2026 table. If your business set its own bands, open HR and Payroll → Payroll Settings and click Follow the GRA schedule automatically.

PAYE is worked out from monthly tax bands that GRA publishes. SellarPro keeps those bands for you: each payroll run is charged the bands in force at the end of its pay period. A run for August 2026 uses the GRA 2024 table, and a run for September 2026 onwards uses the GRA 2026 table.

HR & Payroll comes with selected plans. If you do not see HR and Payroll in your menu, contact SellarPro to add it.

Check which bands your business uses

  1. Open HR and Payroll → Payroll Settings.
  2. Scroll down to PAYE Schedule and read the message at the top of it.

The message is one of three:

  • Following the GRA schedule automatically. Nothing to do. When GRA changes the bands, your next payroll run uses the new ones.
  • This business uses its own PAYE schedule, and it is not the current table. Your employees are not being charged on the current GRA bands. If it says the table is one GRA has since replaced, they are being charged on out-of-date bands.
  • This business's own schedule matches the current table, but it will not update by itself. PAYE is right today, but will be wrong the next time GRA changes the bands.

Go back to following GRA

  1. In PAYE Schedule, click Follow the GRA schedule automatically.
  2. If SellarPro asks you to confirm, click OK.
  3. Open HR and Payroll → Payroll Runs and click Calculate on any run that is still Draft or Calculated, so it uses the GRA bands.

This removes your business's own bands. If you want them back, you have to type them in again.

What happens next

Every run you calculate from now on is charged the GRA bands for its pay period. Runs that are already approved, finalized or paid keep the PAYE they were charged; their payslips do not change. If PAYE was deducted on the wrong bands in a run you have already paid, speak to your accountant about how to put it right.

Using your own bands

If your business has a reason to use different bands, edit the From (GHS/month), To (GHS/month) and Rate (%) in the table, use Add band or Remove as needed, and click Save PAYE Schedule. Bands must start at 0 and meet exactly with no gap or overlap, and only the highest band has a blank To. Once you save, your bands are used for every run and no longer change when GRA changes the law.

Common questions

What are the GRA 2026 PAYE bands?
From 1 September 2026, monthly: the first GHS 588 at 0%, the next 80 at 5%, the next 100 at 10%, the next 2,900 at 17.5%, the next 16,000 at 25%, the next 30,332 at 30%, and everything above 50,000 at 35%.
I recalculated my August run. Did it change to the new bands?
No. A run is charged the bands in force at the end of its pay period, so an August 2026 run still uses the GRA 2024 table however many times you calculate it.
Will my finalized payslips change?
No. A run that is approved, finalized or paid keeps the figures it was charged.
