First, the law changed

GRA's monthly PAYE bands changed on 1 September 2026 (Income Tax (Amendment) Act, 2026): the tax-free first band rose from GH₵490 to GH₵588 and the bands above it were reshaped. Whatever you choose, check that it charges September 2026 payroll on the new bands — and work out any employee's figure with our Ghana PAYE calculator.

Akatua+

Cloud payroll and HR from theSOFTtribe, a Ghanaian software company. It describes automated PAYE against GRA tables, SSNIT Tiers 1 to 3, multi-currency payroll and a local support team in Accra, priced per employee per month. Choose it if payroll and HR are the whole job. Source: akatua.com.

Finza

Business software for Ghana with payroll on its Professional and Business plans. It calculates PAYE and employee and employer pension contributions with SSNIT/Tier 1 and Tier 2 breakdowns, exports GRA DT 107A and SSNIT files, and sends payslips by email or WhatsApp link. Plans start from GH₵149/month with a 14-day free trial. Choose it if you want payroll next to invoicing and accounting. Source: finza.africa.

SellarPro HR & Payroll

Payroll inside the same system that runs your sales, stock and accounts: employees, payroll components, PAYE, SSNIT employee and employer shares, Tier 2, leave, staff loans, payslips and payroll reports, with PAYE charged on the GRA bands in force for each pay period. It is part of the Enterprise plan. Choose it if you already run (or want to run) the business on SellarPro. Look elsewhere if you only need payroll. See HR & Payroll.

SeamlessHR, Deel Local Payroll and Workpay

HR and payroll platforms built for employers in several African countries, including Ghana, generally priced by quote or per employee. Choose one if you pay staff in more than one country and want one system.

Zoho Payroll and QuickBooks Payroll

Strong products built for other countries' tax systems. Before relying on either for Ghanaian staff, confirm your edition calculates Ghana PAYE and SSNIT — otherwise the statutory figures fall back on you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should payroll software in Ghana do?

Calculate PAYE on the GRA bands in force for each pay period (they changed on 1 September 2026), deduct SSNIT for employees and work out the employer share, handle Tier 2, produce payslips, and give you the figures for your monthly GRA and SSNIT filings.

Did PAYE change in 2026?

Yes. From 1 September 2026 the monthly bands are: first GH₵588 at 0%, next 80 at 5%, next 100 at 10%, next 2,900 at 17.5%, next 16,000 at 25%, next 30,332 at 30%, and 35% above GH₵50,000. Make sure your payroll uses them for September onwards.

Can I use Zoho Payroll or QuickBooks Payroll in Ghana?

They are built for other countries’ tax systems. Check whether your edition calculates Ghana PAYE and SSNIT before relying on it; otherwise you will be working the statutory figures out by hand.

Which is cheapest for a small team?

Compare on your headcount: some tools charge per employee, others a flat monthly fee. Finza publishes plans from GH₵149/month; Akatua+ charges per employee per month. SellarPro HR & Payroll is part of its Enterprise plan, alongside POS, inventory and accounting.

Is there a free PAYE calculator?

Yes — our Ghana PAYE calculator uses the September 2026 bands and shows SSNIT, PAYE band by band and take-home pay.
