POS System Installation Guide: Setup in 30 Minutes

Installing POS software doesn't require a technician. This step-by-step guide walks you through setting up SellarPro on any device – phone, tablet, or computer – in about 30 minutes.

What You'll Need: A smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet connection. That's it. No special hardware required to get started.

Installation Steps

Create Your Account

  1. Visit sellarpro.com
  2. Click "Start Free Trial"
  3. Enter your phone number and email
  4. Create a password
  5. Verify via SMS code

Download or Access the App

For Android:

  1. Open Play Store on your device
  2. Search for "SellarPro"
  3. Tap Install
  4. Open app and log in with your account

For iPhone/iPad/Computer:

  1. Open your browser (Chrome recommended)
  2. Go to app.sellarpro.com
  3. Log in with your account
  4. Optional: "Add to Home Screen" for app-like access

Set Up Business Profile

  1. Enter your Business Name (appears on receipts)
  2. Add Business Address and contact info
  3. Select Currency (GHS for Ghana)
  4. Upload your Logo (optional but recommended)
  5. Set your Business Type (Retail, Wholesale, etc.)

Add Your Products

⏱️ 10-30 minutes

Three ways to add products:

Option A: Add Manually (Best for small inventory)

  1. Go to Products → Add Product
  2. Enter name, price, and stock quantity
  3. Scan or type barcode
  4. Save and repeat

Option B: Import from Spreadsheet (Best for medium inventory)

  1. Download our Excel template
  2. Fill in your products
  3. Upload to SellarPro
  4. Products imported instantly

Option C: Add While Selling (Easiest start)

  1. Start with just a few key products
  2. Add more products as you sell them
  3. Build inventory gradually over days

Don't wait until all products are added. Start with your 20-30 bestsellers and add others as you go. You can begin selling immediately.

Configure Settings

Set up business preferences:

  • Tax Settings: Enable VAT if applicable (set rate)
  • Payment Methods: Enable Cash, Mobile Money, Card, Credit
  • Receipt Template: Add business details, customize layout
  • Low Stock Alerts: Set threshold for notifications

Make Your First Sale

  1. Go to POS/Sell screen
  2. Add a product to cart
  3. Tap Pay → Select Cash
  4. Complete the sale
  5. Print or view receipt

Your POS system is now set up and running. Start serving customers immediately.

Optional Setup (After Going Live)

Add Staff Accounts

If you have employees who will use the POS:

  1. Go to Settings → Users
  2. Tap "Add User"
  3. Enter staff name and phone number
  4. Set permissions (what they can access)
  5. Staff receives login credentials via SMS

Connect Hardware (Optional)

SellarPro works with optional hardware for enhanced operation:

You can run SellarPro without any special hardware. Send digital receipts via SMS/WhatsApp, search products by name, and manage cash manually. Add hardware later when needed.

Enable Offline Mode

For locations with unreliable internet:

  1. Go to Settings → Offline Mode
  2. Enable offline capability
  3. System syncs automatically when connection returns

Common Installation Questions

How long does POS installation take?
Basic installation takes 15-30 minutes. Adding all your products may take 1-2 hours depending on inventory size. You can start selling immediately and add products gradually – no need to wait until everything is set up.
Do I need a technician to install POS software?
No! SellarPro is self-service – download the app and follow the setup steps. It's designed for business owners to install themselves without technical knowledge. Free WhatsApp support is available if you have any questions.
Can I move POS from one device to another?
Yes, easily. Your data is stored securely in the cloud. Simply log into your account on the new device and all your products, sales history, and settings will be there. You can even use multiple devices simultaneously.
